El Tío Raúl fue un abogado de la Quinta Región con un gran sentido del humor, bohemio y ademas gran aficionado a la fotografía. Durante su juventud en los años 60s y 70s tomó miles de fotos en blanco y negro a sus familiares, amigos y sobre todo a sus pololas. Debido a que Chile en esos tiempos los insumos fotográficos eran escasos y caros, y por otro lado el siempre andaba medio endeudado, solo unas cuantas fotos lograban salir del cuarto oscuro. La gran mayoría de los rollos quedaban en el olvido. Luego siendo todavía muy joven una enfermedad degenerativa lo fue invalidando hasta quedar postrado en una silla de ruedas. Murió a los 55 años dejando atras seres queridos y una caja de carton con cientos de rollos, la mayoria nunca antes vistos. 20 años más tarde, en el 2020, Juan Carlos, uno de sus sobrinos, decide que es hora de dar a luz al legado de este gran hombre. Uno a uno, cada rollo esta siendo escaneado y las mejores fotos publicadas en este sitio. De a poco se crearan categorias, agregaran fechas y comentarios. Uncle Raúl was a lawyer from Chile’s Fifth Region, a man with a great sense of humor, a bit of a bohemian, and a devoted amateur photographer. In his youth, through the sixties and seventies, he shot thousands of black-and-white photographs of family, friends, and especially his girlfriends. Photographic supplies in Chile were scarce and expensive then, and he was always a little in debt, so only a handful of pictures ever made it out of the darkroom. Most of the rolls were forgotten. Still a young man, a degenerative illness slowly took his mobility until he was confined to a wheelchair. He died at 55, leaving behind the people who loved him and a cardboard box with hundreds of rolls of film, most of them never seen. Twenty years later, in 2020, Juan Carlos, one of his nephews, decided it was time to bring this great man’s legacy into the light. One by one, each roll is being scanned and the best photographs published here. Categories, dates, and notes will come in time. For now, here are the first pictures as they come out…
